This residence has been part of Norway's national heritage since 1814, when the country's constitution was signed. It was the setting for negotiations between patriots and Christian Frederik, who inherited the Danish throne for their cause. The constitution was written and signed on 17 May (Norwegian national holiday) by 112 representatives brought together in the ballroom, which has been left more or less unchanged. Christian Frederik's apartments have been identically arranged and visitors can also see the objects used by him and his family.
