Of the fourteen islands in this archipelago, three are inhabited: Kolocep, the smallest, Lopud, with its traditional village, delightful 15C Franciscan monastery and charming Sunj beach, and Sipan, the furthest from Dubrovnik but also the largest and most tranquil. It has two quiet villages, linked by a road which cuts its way through dense scrub dotted with vineyards and olive groves. Numerous paths and trails lead down to swimming areas (rocks and small shingle beaches).
