Crowned by a dome, Groothoofdspoort was formerly the town's main gate (1618). From the Northern quay there is a beautiful view of the area where the Merwede, the Noord and the Old Meuse meet. Dusk is a particularly busy time for boats on the water. From the other side of the gate, near the movable bridge, Wijnhaven marina forms an attractive sight together with the pinnacles of a distant chapel.
