This museum, on the edge of the former Haarlem lake, is housed in one of the three pumping stations which were used to dry it out. It bears the name of the surveyor Nicolas Cruquius (1678-1754), who drew up one of the plans to dry out the lake. In this museum discover documents and objects illustrating the technical evolution of the struggle against water and the creation of the polders, notably models and an original steam engine from the pumping station, dating from 1849.
