Falzarego Pass, one of the passes on the Dolomites road (S48, to the east of Passo Pordoi), offers stunning views from its altitude of 2 117m. These views become even more beautiful as you head down towards Cortina d'Ampezzo, with the Tofane mountains and Cinque Torri coming into sight. The latter, arising out of an arid landscape, resemble rocky "towers" that could have inspired Tolkien for The Lord of the Rings.
