This Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva shares many similarities with the temples in South India. Located in the northern part of the Pettah district (the large historical market of Colombo), it is built of granite, and the austerity of the bare stone in the half-light accentuates the mystical atmosphere that reigns here. The statues on the main gopuram are depicted in much less hieratic poses than in other temples on the island.
