On the gorgeous 8km-stretch of coast between Pointe de Flacq and Trou d'Eau Douce, you cannot miss the immense Belle Mare Beach, great for swimming, surfing and sailing. It is very popular with Mauritians, who come for the day, sometimes spending the night under the stars after a barbecue. Farther south, shallow sandy coves and basalt rocks provide the magnificent backdrop for Palmar Beach, where shades of turquoise and black ripple through the crystalline water.
