The counts wanted to make Castelló an episcopal see, which explains the monumental dimensions of this church, known as the "Cathedral of Ampordà". Begun at the very start of the 14C, this magnificent building was still under construction 100 years later. Note the portal, a unique work of Catalan Gothic art, by Antonio Antigó, and the magnificent alabaster retable, topped with conical pinnacles.
