The construction of the port of Casablanca was undertaken in the early 1920s by Lyautey, whose ambitions for the city overcame technical constraints. The port's activity has never failed, placing it today among the largest in Africa; what's more, it is still growing. It is a major complex processing millions of tonnes of goods, and tens of thousands of passengers, every year.
