The 17C church of San Michele is a masterpiece of Jesuit and Spanish Baroque architecture. The superb dome rests on an octagonal drum which sports a row of windows that light up the interior; outside the dome is covered in tiles and topped with a skylight. The sculpted gallery, marble and wooden ornamentation and the 17C statue of Saint Michael on the master altar are exceptional. The vestry with its paintings, frescoes and decorations embodies Sardinian Rococo.
