In 1768, the famous Burgundian naturalist had a forge built in order to carry out his research on fusion and continue his experiments on minerals. The industrial complex was operated by eleven water wheels powered by different channels. Today, the remains of the blast furnace, the forge itself, the organisation of the water inlets, but also the domestic buildings, illustrate Buffon's technical success, which necessitated the employment of nearly 400 workers on the site.
