This is an up-and-coming district where antique dealers, smart boutiques and trendy cafés are gradually edging out the old stalls and inns (such as Hanul lui Manuc), once the haunt of merchants and artisans. Nowadays a stroll through its maze of cobbled streets, lying between Dâmbovita, Calea Victoriei, Universitatii Square and I.C. Bratianu street, reveals a part of Bucharest that is both working-class and eminently endearing.
