The road, which winds through the Struma Valley, is very pleasant. In places, the valley narrows to form a gorge. The varied vegetation includes cherry trees which are very difficult for some people to resist! Beyond the hamlet of Pastuh, the valley widens and the river then flows peacefully between two rows of poplars.
