If you love hiking, the Natal Drakensberg will be paradise for you. This huge 200km mountain range, runs alongside Natal and Lesotho, rising up to 3 482m. The 15 or so nature reserves and parks here (stretching for nearly 250 000ha) were created to limit the significant deforestation and control intensive farming that is causing devastating erosion. Don't miss the many examples of rock painting by Bushmen, a hunting and gathering people who lived here until the mid-19C.
