This square located at the water's edge in the heart of the city is the liveliest place in Bergen. The daily fish market draws crowds of people who come here to admire the stalls of shellfish, herring and smoked salmon. Torget is also the departure point for boat trips to the nearby islands. Lined with colourful houses and overlooked by the old Stock Exchange (the Matbørsen), the square also leads into a maze of narrow cobbled streets with a very lively atmosphere.
