This lake is dominated by the escarpments of the Watzmann and the Steinernes Meer. At the point where the lake narrows, note the chapel of St Bartholomä, with its triple apse. Here, visitors can enjoy the setting and visit its historic houses. A short walk leads to the Obersee, at the foot of the Teufelshörner, the site of the impressive Röthbach waterfall.
