The nature park (41 342ha) is located at an altitude of between 900 and 2 648m. The two large mountain ranges, Cadí and Moixero, which meet at the Tancalaporta pass, form an imposing mountainous barrier. Some of the cliffs are more than 500m high and encase deep valleys where the vegetation is unlike that normally associated with the Mediterranean region. The Pedraforca nature site of national interest, an emblem of Catalonia, lies to the southwest of the park.
