Numerous churches are hidden in the cliffs around Belisirma. As very few are actually marked, it helps to come here with a guide who can show you the more secluded churches, such as the Church of St George, perched at the top of the cliffs. The nave of the church appears to have been axed out of an overhang in the cliff-face and is completely open to one side. The ceiling is decorated with delicate paintings dating back to the 13C. The most beautiful church in this area is the Church of the Columns, situated a little further along. Dug out in the 11C, this church is striking for its large size.
