The Wahnfried villa, where Richard Wagner lived from 1874 onwards, is a mecca for admirers of this German composer. The only remaining original feature is its façade. After three years of renovation work, the villa reopened in 2015 with double the exhibition space and cutting-edge facilities which provide a pleasant and informative setting for visitors. Richard and Cosima are buried beneath a simple plaque at the foot of the garden.
