Through a clear and explicit museum layout, the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy covers the events of 7 June to 29 August 1944, with displays ranging from a timeline of events to 3D models, original maps, material and uniforms. Several thematic areas are devoted to General de Gaulle's actions from 1935-46, the man-made harbours, the taking of Cherbourg, the role of aviation in the Battle of Normandy and finally the bloody "War of the Hedgerows".
