Created by Tàpies in 1984, this foundation is housed in a beautiful Modernist building by Domènech i Montaner, with a façade crowned by the famous Cloud and Chair sculpture. The museum contains the most complete collection of paintings by the artist, and includes works from the famous "serie matérica". The library has archives relating to the work of Tàpies, a section devoted to oriental arts which had such an influence on him, and an extensive collection of documents on 20C art. The museum also stages temporary exhibitions by contemporary artists.
