This huge square, a meeting place for Barcelona's inhabitants, lies on the border between the old town and Eixample. Laid out in 1927 par Francesc de P. Nebot, it is home to many interesting sculptures by Llimona and Gargallo, and accommodates a replica of Josep Clarà's Deesa, a masterpiece of Noucentisme (a movement of political and cultural dimensions that emerged in response to Modernism and favoured a return to classical and Mediterranean sources).
