The cathedral is dedicated to the Annunciation and Saint Venera. Certain not to go by unnoticed is the two-tone Neo-Gothic style facade by Giovanni Battista Basile, the father of Ernesto Basile and master of Italian art nouveau, known as Liberty style architecture. Two bell towers frame the cathedral with spires covered with majolica and endowed with a superb 17C portal. The interior is home to frescoes by P. Vasta, and a 19C sundial decorates the transept paving.
