Designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch in 1929, this edifice houses several collections. The first, devoted to Archaeology of the Ancient World, exhibits, among others, a 13C BCE Egyptian sarcophagus. Next come works on the theme of the Virgin of Montserrat, 13C-18C classical painting, modern works from the 19C-20C and Impressionist art. Byzantine and Slav icons and religious gold- and silverware round up the collections.
