Take a small space, cool staff plus a wildly creative kitchen and what do you get? Himitsu, naturally. Perhaps it should come as no surprise that it continues to garner so much buzz as it is exceedingly more fun than your average spot, and ergo, another notch in the belt of DC’s dining scene. Don't bother Googling-there is no phone and they don't take reservations. Lines form long before the door opens, but if you're lucky (or patient) enough to snag a seat at the bar or one of the snug tables, you'll find a fun, inventive menu that takes inspiration from, well, everywhere, but has an Asian bent. Think bowls of silky congee and Japanese eggplant dressed in a chili-lime vinaigrette. Charred carrots on a bed of creamy robiolina are outrageously good.
