Tucked inside the 35th floor of the swank Mandarin Oriental, Asiate boasts a breathtaking view with towering glass windows overlooking Central Park and that legendary Manhattan skyline. Magenta booths (with flowers on the table to match) add a bit of whimsy to the space; service is understated, but always professional. Chef Mazen Mustafa heads this kitchen-where dinner might feature tender, faintly charred octopus paired with a slightly sweet piquillo sauce; and then move on to the terrific Ora King salmon, a signature from the chef. Cooked sous vide, it's served with a green sauce of avocado, sorrel and coconut, as well as a bit of charred white spring onion. Don't forgo the chocolate coulant, which is topped with a gold leaf and pure heaven to devour.
