Set in an old 16C salt house, this long-standing, proudly run restaurant is a pleasant blend of the old and the new – and is the type of place that’s always evolving. Dine in either the Abbots Den or the Garden Room, and choose 3 small plates for starters, followed by a flavour-packed, classically based main course. Alternatively, come for coffee and cake or afternoon tea. Bedrooms have good extras and there’s a gym and hot tub in the garden.
