The villa’s small rooms may be furnished in an old Shanghai style but the Shanghainese classics are given a fresh, new spin. Set menus are served and regulars usually have their menus custom-made when reserving a table. Specialities include braised rice with abalone and morels in a claypot with slivers of black truffle shaved on top when in season. ‘Tofu shrimp trio’ are shrimps, their roe and tomalley on a bed of tofu stewed in shrimp soup.
