The brothers who run Kyochuka Makisada are following in the footsteps of their father, who was a chef at a Chinese restaurant. The sign beside the shop curtain was written by their father, a gift to celebrate their start of a new life. The “sada” part is common to both brothers’ names. The elder brother, Sadataka, runs the kitchen, while the younger brother, Sadanao, handles service. Peking duck rings with the sound of bursting oil; steamed buns are wrapped in dough in front of customers’ eyes. The brothers’ passion is driven by the family tie that binds them.
