The restaurant of the venerable Grandhotel Giessbach (dating back to 1875) stands right at the foot of the waterfalls of the same name and boasts a wonderful view of the nearby lake, Brienzersee. The tasty food is regional and seasonal, made primarily from produce grown in the hotel's own 2ha vegetable garden. The other ingredients are sourced from local producers and small-scale growers: fish from the lake, veal from a neighbouring farmer. There are also a number of vegetarian options, such as "Giessbach agnolotti, broccoli, hazelnut". In the evening, the "Tour du Domaine" surprise menu for sharing (for two or more people) would be our top recommendation. Tip: Public (paid) parking is available about a 10min walk away. You can also get here by boat and the historical Giessbach funicular.
