Centred around Neubaugasse, a street running perpendicular to Mariahilfer Straße, Neubau is a district which is as commercial as Mariahilf but is populated with more local shops. Within it, the Spittelberg district is made up of several attractive streets. Once very bohemian, its pretty and lively pedestrianised streets are teeming with shops, cafés and small restaurants. The district has also remained an active cultural hub.
