Begun by Baldassare Longhena (1598-1682) and finished after his death by Antonio Gaspari (1670-1730), this elegant palace is a masterpiece of Venetian Baroque with a magnificent ground-floor embellished with diamond-shaped bossages and adorned at its base with lions' heads. The palazzo is now home to the Oriental Art Museum and the International Gallery of Modern Art.
