Emperor Charles V created this fine Renaissance building in 1564 to house the educational establishments of Sant Lluís, Sant Jordi and Sant Domènec. In so doing, the monarch intended to encourage the city's cultural development and, at the same time, educate "new Christians", who were mainly converted Muslims.
