One of the favourite residences of King René of Anjou, who commissioned a refined decoration belied by the exterior. Don't miss the outer bailey and apothecary, the royal court with the cantors' chapel and the many-sided turret housing a stairway. As for the royal quarters, showcased by an entirely new exhibition design, they prove that here, as in Angers, King René enjoyed his comforts and lavish feasts. The terrace affords a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding area. It now houses the René d'Anjou art centre, which is dedicated to contemporary creation and organises major temporary exhibitions.
