Strečno's medieval castle overlooks the village of the same name, in a picturesque bend of the River Váh. This fortress, erected in the second half of the 14C and transformed into a stately home at the turn of the 16C, was destroyed in 1698, leaving only ruins. Today most of it has been rebuilt. There is a magnificent panoramic view from the top of the towers. During summer weekends, various events are held here, including eerie night tours.
