This hike to the top of the Grand Som (2,026m), crowned with a cross, unfolds over a grandiose panorama of the Porte to the Granier passes, with the Grande Chartreuse monastery down below. In the distance lies the Belledonne range, with the snow-capped peaks of the Grande Casse and the Mont Blanc range in the background. To enjoy the view, be prepared for a 4hr-uphill hike, longer if you aren't in peak condition, along more or less steep slopes. The reward is fully worth the effort however.
