Begun in 1925 and completed in 1961, this magnificent English Gothic-style cathedral rises from a wooded bluff overlooking downtown Spokane. Massive, ornate, crowned by a 180ft carillon tower and resplendent with glittering stained-glass windows, the cathedral is the seat of the Episcopal Bishop of Spokane. Each Sunday, its glistening stone and wood interior reverberates with the sound of a 1960 Aeolian-Skinner organ that has 4,095 pipes; before services, the 48-bell carillon peals over the surrounding neighborhood.
