This noble square is enclosed on three sides by three buildings whose architecture is of three distinct styles: Gothic in the Salimbeni palace; Florentine Renaissance in the Spannochi palace; then late Renaissance in the Tantucci palace. This trilogy of buildings was based on a single cult, the worship of money especially as now the three palaces today house the offices of the bank Monte dei Paschi.
