The road skirts the mountain stream and then rises up above a narrow cornice of overhanging rocks to gaze down on gorges which are among the most picturesque of the region. The railway from Nice to Cuneo features a stunning quantity of feats of engineering. Amidst this wonderful landscape, the village of Saorge stands surrounded by olive groves.
