The site, at the top of the hill, is naturally protected on one side and lined with sturdy ramparts on the two others, thus forming a sort of triangle. Outside of the walls, to the southeast, there is a necropolis with hypogea (including the so-called Queen's Tomb). The south gate flanked by large towers leads to the acropolis, which commands a 360° view over the whole valley. The largest building is the great Carthaginian temple.
