The Samana headland juts out into the Atlantic Ocean in the northwest of the country. Its pristine landscapes are home to four main villages: Las Terrenas, Las Galeras, Sánchez and Samana. The latter is the departure point for an exceptional adventure to see the humpback whales at sea. The coast itself is depicted by beaches lapped by crystalline water. Samaná is also the departure point for excursions to Parque Nacional de Los Haitises on the other side of the bay. Lush flora and wildlife await the explorer.
