In March 1999 the mummies of three Inca children, which had been preserved in the ice since the 15C, were discovered 6 700m up on a slope of Llullaillaco Volcan. The MAAM is dedicated to this fundamental discovery, and gives visitors an insight into the Inca culture and high mountain archaeology.
