Leuvehaven is Rotterdam's oldest sea port, now the setting for the old boats, cranes and restoration workshops which make up the open-air maritime museum (Maritiem Museum). To the north there is very moving statue by Zadkine, dating from 1953. The sculpture The Destroyed City depicts a man whose heart has been torn out - a symbol for the devastation caused to the city during the bombing of 1940.
