Frevo features on UNESCO's Intangible Heritage list. This carnivalesque music with a frenzied rhythm, played by a brass band, is accompanied by an acrobatic dance that is performed with a colourful little umbrella in hand. The Paço do Frevo is a cultural centre, using photos and quotations to illustrate the soul of the carnival; it also encompasses a music school and dance school. It is possible to see demonstrations in the large panoramic room on the top floor.
