Completed in 1660, the Church of Santo Domingo has a strikingly understated exterior. But the interior contains a veritable masterpiece of the Mexican Baroque: the Capilla del Rosario to the left of the transept. A profusion of gilding and interlacing in stuccoed wood celebrates the Virgin of the Rosary (who brings Christians the rosary) worshipped by the Dominicans.
