Beyond Zoodochos Pigi Monastery the road disappears into lonely woods in the heart of the island of Poros, climbing up to the ruins of the Temple of Poseidon, dating from the 6C BC. It is worth visiting less for the vestiges, very much in ruins, of the temple and the other buildings that made up the site than for the superb view over the Peloponnese, and, in clear weather, over Attica and Salamis.
