Opposite the Harbour Master's Office at the quayside in Padstow port is a group of 16C granite houses with slate roofs, including the Old Court House with a shell hood over the door. The 15C Abbey House was once a nunnery and is now privately owned. A network of narrow streets and alleys, shadowed by tall houses, stretch out behind the quay. Many of these houses have exposed beams and overhanging upper floors above small shop fronts.
