It was between 1303 and 1305 that Giotto decorated the walls of this chapel with 39 frescoes depicting the lives of Joachim and Anne, the Virgin and Christ: the Flight from Egypt, Judas' Kiss, and the Laying in the Tomb are the most famous scenes in this collection of exceptional unity of execution, dramatic power and harmony which make it the apogee of the artist's work.
