After passing the famous "slope of 48 bends" on the road from Nikko to Chuzenji Onsen, stopping at the Akechi-daira cable car offers a splendid view of Lake Chuzenji, Kegon Waterfall and the Nantai volcano, which is reflected in the lake. Since 1950, two 16-seat gondolas have been shuttling back and forth over the 300m ascent between Akechi-daira station and Tembodai station with its panoramic terrace. The frequent morning mist experienced around Tochigi only serves to embellish the mountain landscape.
