One of the largest expanses of public land in the Houston area is also the best place to see once-rare, now-common Gulf Coast native alligators. An extensive network of hiking trails leads visitors around the huge marsh complex shared by waterfowl and gators, and along the Brazos River in undisturbed sycamore-pecan woodlands.
